One of the main reasons to choose laminate flooring from PARADOR is its impressive water resistance. This ensures that the flooring remains durable and reliable, even in areas prone to moisture, such as kitchens or bathrooms.

Water-resistant or waterproof laminate flooring

New laminate floors feature an improved core board. The water-resistant version of laminate flooring is particularly suitable for kitchens and bathrooms. This is where there is the greatest likelihood of it coming into contact with water. Time and again. You can also use water-resistant laminate flooring in other rooms where it might come into contact with water and damp. For example, hallways or utility rooms.

If you’ve ever seen terms such as ‘waterproof flooring’ or ‘water-resistant flooring’ used to describe flooring, these may not refer to the same properties at all. There is one major difference between these terms.

Water-resistant flooring can withstand water and damp to a certain extent, but it is not 100% waterproof. A water-resistant floor can withstand short-term exposure to water, such as water droplets, wet mopping or high humidity. It is ideal for areas with a moderate risk of water exposure – kitchens, bathrooms or hallways.

Waterproof flooring, unlike water-resistant flooring, is 100% waterproof. This means you need not worry about any damaging effects. Not even in the event of prolonged exposure to water. Waterproof flooring is suitable for areas with an increased risk of damp or contact with water, such as bathrooms, laundry rooms or rooms with sprinkler systems.

Whilst water-resistant floors offer a certain degree of protection against water, waterproof floors are 100% resistant. When choosing a specific type of waterproof flooring, it is important to consider the function of the room as well as the consequences of any accidents that might occur there.
